Arfa Karim

| A genius among us |
I was fortunate to get many copies of this stamp.Let me know if you want this stamp.
To know and read about this young person is a marvel.More details below.
Arfa Abdul Karim Randhawa (Urdu: ارفع کریم رندهاوا, 2 February 1995 – 14 January 2012) was a Pakistani student and computer prodigy who in 2004 at the age of nine years became the youngest Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP). She kept the title until 2008. Arfa represented Pakistan on various international forums including the TechEd Developers Conference. She also received the President’s Award for Pride of Performance. A science park in Lahore, the Arfa Software Technology Park, was named after her.[2][3][4][5] She was invited by Bill Gates to visit the Microsoft Headquarters in the USA.[6]
Arfa was born into a family from the village of Chak No. 4JB Ram Dewali in Faisalabad, Punjab. After returning to Pakistan from a visit to Microsoft headquarters, Arfa gave numerous television and newspaper interviews. S. Somasegar, the vice president of the Software Development Division, wrote about her in his blog.[5] On 2 August 2005, Arfa was presented the Fatimah Jinnah Gold Medal in the field of Science and Technology by the then Prime Minister of Pakistan Shaukat Aziz on the occasion of 113th birth anniversary of Fatima Jinnah.[7] She also received the Salaam Pakistan Youth Award again in August 2005 from the President of Pakistan.[8] Arfa is also the recipient of the President's Award for Pride of Performance,[9] a civil award usually granted to people who have shown excellence in their respective fields over a long period of time. She is the youngest recipient of this award. Arfa was made brand ambassador forPakistan Telecommunication Company's 3G Wireless Broadband service named EVO in January 2010.[10]

Air Marshal Nur Khan
![]() |

| A clear version |
As usual I have lots of such stamps.Let. me know if you desire this stamp. I was able to create a clear version recently.
Air Chief Marshal Nur Khan (Urdu: نور خان, born Malik Nur Khan (Urdu: ملک نور خان ; 22 February 1923 – 15 December 2011) HS, HQA, SPk HJ, was a high-profile military official who represented the Pakistan Air Force as its Air Commander-in-Chief[5] in the ruling military governments of Field Marshal Ayub Khan and General Yahya Khan from 1965 till 1969. Nur Khan was a hero of the 1965 air war as the air chief who led a smaller but better trained and equipped Pakistan Air Force to achieve parity over the Indian Air Force (which was three times the PAF's strength in numbers) from the very first day of the 1965 war. Nur Khan was widely respected, not only for his integrity but also for his sharp intelligence and outstanding management abilities that largely benefited the Pakistan's military.[3]
Following his retirement from the PAF, Nur Khan was appointed by the military government as the Governor of West Pakistan in 1969[3] but soon resigned in 1970, after mounting serious disagreements with the military government and was finally forced out of the military government by president General Yahya Khan in 1971. In 1976, he joined hands with then-Prime ministerZulfikar Ali Bhutto who appointed him as President of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF); and in 1980, he became Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after General Zia-ul-Haqrequested him to take control of the country's cricket administration. He presided over both the Hockey Federation and Cricket Board until 1984, leading the Pakistani hockey team to a gold medal in the Los Angeles Olympics.[2][6] In 1985, Nur Khan participated in 1985 parliamentary elections for a technocratic seat and also contested on Pakistan Peoples Party's platform on1988 parliamentary elections but conceded his defeat that eventually led to end his short political-technocratic career once and for all.[7]

St Joseph`s Convent, Karachi
![]() |
| A stamp reveal the history |
Let me know if you desire this stamp.
St Joseph's Convent School (Karachi) is a Catholic high school for girls located in Saddar Town, Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan.
In the year 1861, Monsignor Steins, Vicar Apostolic of Bombay passing through Belgium, called Mother Marie Therese, Superior General and founder of the Daughters of the Cross, and asked for several of her sisters to work in the Indian mission field. Canon Habets, co-founder, advised the Sisters to offer themselves for the mission.
The school was founded in 1862 by the planning of Monsignor Steins, Vicar Apostolic of Bombay of that time and five Sisters of the Cross.
On January 27, 1862, the journey began. Five Sisters set off and arrived on 16 February in Bombay, where they received a hearty welcome from Bishop Steins. There the Sisters heard for the first time that they were to work in Karachi, and that he would travel along with them very shortly.
Thus on March 13, 1862, the five Daughters of the Cross first set foot on the sandy soil of Sindh, and immediately began their apostolate to the people of Karachi.
On March 18, school began with ten pupils; gradually the number of pupils increased. A new building was built, and inside the foundation stone was placed an elaborate inscription hoping that the building raised above it "might be the home whence good morals and sound learning may be diffused throughout this town and the Province of Sindh."
In 1863 a new group of Sisters arrived. In 1869 an upper storey was added to the Convent, providing accommodation for the boarders and from January 1871 the institution was known as St. Joseph's Covent. After many years in 1951 the college was built.
After the new St. Patrick's Church was built, the Convent acquired the use of the old Church, which was rebuilt into the present fine Hall, with a built-in stage. 1901 saw the building of the present Convent Chapel with the classrooms below. The roof of this was torn off six months later in a violent cyclone that swept over Karachi.
In 1911, St. Patrick's and St. Joseph's held their golden jubilee with a combined P.T. display and the performance of a play, William Tell, in the G.P. Hall. That year five pupils, Ethel Raymond, Annie Rodrigues, Eugene Nunes, Mary Lastellino and Mary D'Souza, appeared for their Matriculation Examination, and all passed. Ethel Raymond passed 2nd in Sindh and won a scholarship.
In 1958 the swimming pool was closed and transformed into the Lourdes House, and in 1965 a part of the garden saw the raising of the present Primary Block. With the creation of Pakistan a new challenge was thrown to the Sisters. The people who migrated to Pakistan were looking for schools for their children and the Sisters responded generously, stretching their capacity to the limit. Today the school has more than 2000 pupils on its rolls. The School enjoys a good reputation and is much in demand among the citizens of Karachi.
It has successfully built a large library.

Lawrence College Murree Hills
![]() |
| An enchanting view |
Lawrence College Ghora Gali (or GG) is situated in the foothills of the Himalayas and Pir Panjal at a height of about 1950 meters (6395 feet) above sea level, on a pine covered spur, covering an area of 150 acres. GG is 4 km from Murree Town and 57 km from Rawalpindi. Weather remains moderate throughout the year, with rains in July and August. In winters when the estate is covered with snow, the college is closed for a three-month vacation.
Sir Henry Lawrence was the force behind the Lawrence Schools of the subcontinent. He was born in 1806 in (then) Ceylon and educated at Folye College Derry and then Addiscomb Military Seminary. He joined the East India Company, rising to the rank of Brigadier General in the Bengal Artillery,
While engaged in matters of concern to the British Government of India like the revenue system, the canal system, and roads, the worry that was always with him was the future of the orphans of British soldiers. This worry took the form of the four asylums.
- Sanawar 1847
- Lovedale 1858
- Mount Abu 1857
- Ghora Gali 1860
The Sanawar, Lovedale and Mount Abu were constructed and commissioned in the life time of Sir Henry Lawrence, while Ghora Gali came into being after his death.

Habib Public School
![]() |
| A school on a stamp |
This stamp came from my steady source in Pakistan.
The school started on 7 July 1959 with four blocks of buildings: Ahmed House, Ghulam Ali House, Dawood House, and Sharif House. The first administrator of the school was Yusuf Qasim, who supervised the construction work as well as carried out admissions and appointment of staff.
The premises were isolated and marshy, with no public transport. Some children walked from places as far as Saddar or Cantt Station. Land was reclaimed from the sea and, over a period of 15 years, facilities were added for a second hockey field, a swimming pool, an auditorium, Physics and Chemistry labs and Secondary and Cambridge classrooms.
The school has been a full day school from its start. The school provided fee concessions, stationery and uniforms to the needy students so that it should not become a school for the rich only.[citation needed] At present the fee concession exceeds Rs.5 million annually. The Cambridge system of education was also introduced in 1977 with first batch graduating in 1979.
Habib Public school was a pioneer in introducing computer education in schools when it launched its computer education in schools in 1983.
